Download the My SoftBank app to your smartphone (NFC-compatible device) and scan the IC chip on the applicable identification document. Please note that you should not scan the IC chip on a metal desk.

  • STEP1Preparing the app (downloading)

    ​The My SoftBank app is required to read the IC chip.

    If you do not have the app, please install the "My SoftBank app" beforehand.

  • STEP2Documents and items to be confirmed

    Please have the following documents (originals with valid expiration dates) ready:

  • STEP3Precautions when reading IC chips

    Please note that reading may not work properly in the following cases.

    Do not use on a metal desk

    The radio waves will interfere with the reading on a metal desk, making it impossible to read.
    Please do this by holding it in your hands or on a wooden desk or similar.

    Instead of "holding" it over the card, "press" it against the card

    The IC chip will not react if it is held up like a ticket gate at a station.
    Place the card and smartphone directly on top of each other, ensuring there are no gaps between them.

    Stick tightly

    Do not move for more than 5 seconds until scanning is complete

    Do not move the scanner immediately after pressing the Start Scan button.
    Please remain still and do not move the scanner until the "Reading complete" screen appears.
    If it doesn't work, move it a little and try again.

  • STEP4Reading position guide

    The reading position varies depending on the model you are using.

    ● For iPhone users
    Location: The "top" of the device. It's either at the top of the surface or next to the rear camera.
    Tip: Imagine pressing the top of your smartphone against the center of the card.
