Cell Phone/PHS Number Portability (MNP)

When changing from another company (including the SoftBank brand) to Y!mobile smartphones or cell phones, you can keep the current phone number by using the Cell Phone/PHS Number Portability (MNP) or number transferring service.

STEP 2

Take your MNP reservation number and visit Y!mobile store.

※The MNP reservation number is valid for 15 days, including the issue date.

  • ※You will no longer be able to use the device you were using with your previous company. Upon termination of that contract, you will also not be able to use the relevant services, such as mail address, payment plans, discount services, contents and e-money services.
  • ※If you have a discount service on your yearly contract, you may be charged for early cancellation of the contract.
  • ※Handling charges as determined by the other mobile phone company apply when transferring from another company. Note that transferring from Y!mobile using the MNP or a number transferring service within 6 months after entering a contract will incur an MNP transfer processing fee of \3,000 or the fee of the number transferring service.
  • ※Depending on the customers contract, you may not be able to make reservations by phone or the internet (MNP reservations are done according to each company’s protocol).
  • ※When using the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service, the contract with the pre-transfer carrier is cancelled the moment the transfer process is completed by the post-transfer carrier. In the event the transfer process is conducted during a period which is not the contract renewal month of the pre-transfer carrier, a penalty for breach of contract may be charged depending on the content of the contract between the pre-transfer carrier and the customer. Please be aware that when conducting the transfer process (MNP) via the Internet, time may be required for the transfer process to be completed.

Under the Mobile Phone Improper Use Prevention Act, you are required to present the following documents.

Please have the original documents with you. Photocopies are not accepted. The documents presented are not used for other than applicant identification. We may ask you to present one or more of the following documents depending on the contents of your application:

Special Permanent Residence Certificate
■ Document must be valid. 
■ Must have your current address written on it.
  • ※ If your current address is not on the document or not there at all, another document with your current address will be required.
  • ※ We do not accept residence cards with the residence status of“none”.
  • ※ Without the proper residence status, you will not be able to use Value Style or Double Value Select.
  • ※ If your residence status is Permanent Resident, you do not have to show your passport.
  • ※ For an up-grade, you do not need to show your foreign passport if you present your Residence Card.

■ Supplemental Documents

  • ● An original copy of a Certificate of Items Stated in Resident Register received within the last 3 months, a utility bill payment receipt proving you live in Japan(electric bill, gas bill, water bill, etc.), a document notarized by a municipality of Japan, a receipt from Y!mobile.

Set up iPhone APN

If you are unable to connect to the Internet (send and receive mobile data) using the latest version of iOS, follow the procedure below to set up your APN.

Download and install the iPhone APN setup configuration profile

STEP1

 

Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data, and open Y!mobile official website in Safari.

Tap「APN設定用の構成プロファイル」.

Tap “Allow”.

Tap “Close”.

Return to the Home screen,tap on “Settings”, then tap on “Profile Downloaded”.

When prompted for your passcode, enter it following the directions on the screen.

When transferring SIM from another company

If another company’s profile is set up, you will not be able to install Y!mobile profile.Make sure to delete the profile.

  • ※ When deleting an APN configuration profile, emails and memos tied to that profile will also be deleted.If you require this data, be sure to backup these files before deleting the APN configuration profile.

Set up Android APN

Set up an APN to communicate.
Please follow the steps below even if the APN is already set up automatically.

  • ※App icons, locations, menu titles, and other details may differ depending on phone. For more information, please see the manual for your device.

Tap “Settings”.

Tap“Wireless & networks”.

  • ※The display may differ depending on phone. If“ Access Point Names” is displayed in the Settings app as shown in Step04 , proceed to Step05.

Tap “Mobile network”.

Tap “Access Point Name”.

If the APN is set up automatically, tap the icon i to the right of the APN name. If not set up, tap ”新しいAPN”via“MENU”.

  • ※ Displays and icons such as“+”may differ depending on your device.

Make sure“Edit access point” appears on the screen.

Enter the setting value on the“Edit access point”screen.

  • ※ If the items are automatically set up, be sure to check the settings.If any of the items are differently set up, be sure to follow“If APN is not set up”in Step 05 to create a new APN setting.

Tap the checkbox to save.

You will be returned to the APN list so select the checked setting names and newly created names and tap“○”, then return to the initial screen.
