Cell Phone/PHS Number Portability (MNP)

When changing from another company (including the SoftBank brand) to Y!mobile smartphones or cell phones, you can keep the current phone number by using the Cell Phone/PHS Number Portability (MNP) or number transferring service.

Get an“MNP reservation number”for the cell phone MNP you are contracted for from the reservation window.

STEP 2

Take your MNP reservation number and visit Y!mobile store.

※The MNP reservation number is valid for 15 days, including the issue date.

  • ※ You will no longer be able to use the device you were using with your previous company. Upon termination of that contract, you will also not be able to use the relevant services, such as mail address, payment plans, discount services, contents and e-money services.
  • ※ If you have a discount service on your yearly contract, you may be charged for early cancellation of the contract.
  • ※ You need to pay fee as specified by the company you transfer from. Transferring from Y!mobile within 6 months after entering a contract will incur an MNP transfer processing fee of \6,000, and \3,000, from the 7th month.
  • ※ Depending on the customers contract, you may not be able to make reservations by phone or the internet (MNP reservations are done according to each company’s protocol).

■ Proof of identification (Foreign National)

Under the Mobile Phone Improper Use Prevention Act, you are required to present the following documents.

Please have the original documents with you. Photocopies are not accepted. The documents presented are not used for other than applicant identification. We may ask you to present one or more of the following documents depending on the contents of your application:

Special Permanent Residence Certificate
■ Document must be valid. 
■ Must have your current address written on it.
  • ※ If your current address is not on the document or not there at all, another document with your current address will be required.
  • ※ We do not accept residence cards with the residence status of“none”.
  • ※ Without the proper residence status, you will not be able to use Value Style or Double Value Select.
  • ※ If your residence status is Permanent Resident, you do not have to show your passport.
  • ※ For an up-grade, you do not need to show your foreign passport if you present your Residence Card.

■ Supplemental Documents

  • ● An original copy of a Certificate of Items Stated in Resident Register received within the last 3 months, a utility bill payment receipt proving you live in Japan (electric bill, gas bill, water bill, etc.), a document notarized by a municipality of Japan, a receipt from Y!mobile.

Set up iPhone APN

To set up your iPhone APN, download and configure profile.

  • ※ Setup can only be done on SIM free-unlocked iPhones.
  • ※ For customers with a different company’s APN profile installed, you should delete the profile before proceeding.
  • ※ See the next page on how to delete the old profile.

Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data, and open Y!mobile official website in Safari.

When prompted for your passcode, enter it following the directions on the screen.

When transferring SIM from another company

If another company’s profile is set up, you will not be able to install Y!mobile profile. Make sure to delete the profile.

Set up Android APN

Set up an APN to communicate.
Please follow the steps below even if the APN is already set up automatically.

  • ※ Depending on your device, the application icons, placement, and menus may appear differently. Please refer to the instruction manual for details.

Tap“Setting”.

Tap“More”.

  • ※ Displays may differ depending on your device. Use the set up application to display “Access Point Name”as shown in Step 04 and proceed to Step 05.

Tap“Mobile Network”.

If the APN is set up automatically, tap the icon i to the right of the APN name. If not set up, tap ”新しいAPN”via“MENU”.

Make sure“Edit access point” appears on the screen.

Enter the setting value on the“Edit access point”screen.

  • ※ If the items are automatically set up, be sure to check the settings. If any of the items are differently set up, be sure to follow“If APN is not set up”in Step 05 to create a new APN setting.

Tap“Save”.

You will be returned to the APN list so select the checked setting names and newly created names and tap“○”, then return to the initial screen.

Tap your browser to confirm connection.

Depending on your device, your APN may be set up automatically. Attention If it is not set up automatically, please follow the steps in STEP1~10.
