What is eSIM?

An eSIM is a SIM card that is pre-installed in a smartphone. If your smartphone supports eSIM, you can use the line simply by signing up and setting it up, without having to insert a SIM card into the device like with a standard SIM.

Your identity verification documents

When applying, please prepare one of the following identification documents in advance. If you apply through the online store, you will be asked to take a photo of your document using your smartphone camera, following the instructions.

  • *If someone other than the contract holder (such as a family member) will be using the service, please also prepare an identification document that can verify the user's age, such as a student ID or handbook.

利用する方(ご家族)の姓が契約者と異なる場合、最新の情報が記載された以下のいずれかを一緒にアップロードする必要があります。

Family register

  • ① Issued within the last three months

Certificate of residence (original)

  • ① The name must be the same as the name on your identity verification document
  • ② The "Individual Number (My Number)" and "Gender" must be covered with plain paper or other material (if the relevant sections are not covered, your application will be canceled).
  • ③ The certificate must be issued within the last three months.
  • ④ Your current address must be listed.
  • *We also accept "copies of resident registration certificates" and "wide-area issued resident registration certificates (copies of resident registration certificates issued by a municipality other than the one in which the resident registration is registered)."
  • * In the case of a "copy of resident registration card" or "wide-area issued resident registration card," in addition to the above points, please cover the "permanent domicile" with plain paper or something similar.

Services provided by companies other than Y!mobile have not been verified. Please check for yourself.
Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any issues that may arise from using Y!mobile 's eSIM with other companies' products, except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence on our part.
You can check Y!mobile SIM-compatible models by searching by model name or carrier.

  • *"OS" is the OS version at the time of operation confirmation.
  • * A connection record indicates that the function has been used at least once on the device under certain conditions. Also, a connection record does not guarantee that all operations will work.
  • *If your device does not support SoftBank 's main frequencies, it may be difficult to get a signal depending on the location. Please check with each sales company for compatibility.
  • *Models sold overseas have not been verified.

Precautions when using mobile phones sold by companies other than Y!mobile

  • Products that have not been unlocked cannot be used.
  • We may restrict the use of communication services for smartphones that have been fraudulently contracted or obtained illegally.
  • We cannot guarantee the operation of all Y!mobile services, including voice calls, SMS, email (MMS), packet communication, and additional functions such as tethering.

A Note About Automatic Communications

Depending on the model you use, communication charges may be incurred if the device automatically communicates.
For detailed product specifications, please contact the company that sold you your mobile phone.

  • Please note that the handling office varies depending on the business operator.

Regarding repairs/after-sales service

  • Y!mobile cannot provide after-sales services such as accepting repairs or handling of mobile phones sold by other companies, or answering questions about combining them with Y!mobile 's eSIM.
    For matters regarding mobile phones sold by companies other than Y!mobile, please contact the company that sold you the mobile phone.
  • Please note that the handling office varies depending on the business operator.
  • If you delete your eSIM profile, or if your device is lost or broken, you will need to reissue your eSIM profile. Reissuing an eSIM profile will incur an eSIM reissue fee.
    If you apply for eSIM reissue through My Y!mobile, there will be no handling fee.
  • If you are unable to log in to My Y!mobile using line authentication due to reasons such as deleting your profile or losing your device, you will need to go to a store and incur an administrative fee.

Regarding certification of technical standards for mobile phones

If you use a mobile phone sold by another company with Y!mobile 's eSIM, please make sure that the mobile phone complies with laws and regulations, including technical standards compliance certification.

  • Mobile phones with the "Technical Conformity" mark are compliant with the law. For details, please refer to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' Home page Please check the following. Even if a device does not have a technical conformity mark, if you are a contract holder with an overseas telecommunications carrier that has an international roaming agreement with a Japanese telecommunications carrier and you are using a mobile phone that can be used under the international roaming agreement in Japan, you do not need to undergo an inspection when connecting to our line.
  • If we determine that you are violating laws and regulations, we may refuse to allow you to connect.
  • When using Y!mobile eSIM, you may not be able to use some services that use only communication methods different from those provided by our company.
